"Rushing Waters"

9" x 12" Original Pastel Painting

This painting was so much fun to do! I love the flowing water and rocks, the variety of colors in the water bouncing off the bottom, off submerged rocks, and splashing over and around the rocks. I hope you like it, too.

This painting just won an Honorable Mention at the Art from the Heart Show at Front Range Community College, College Hill Library, and sponsored by the Paletteers Art Club. I was very excited to have this work recognized. I loved painting the rock faces and had to mentally work through the dark areas on both sides and how much to leave less detailed. I think I finally got the right balance that would lead the viewer's eyes to the rushing texture of the waterfall which pools and then keeps on falling. I hope you like it as much as I do!

"Changing Garments" 12" x 16" Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Landscape Artist, Margretta Smylie Perry

I love the soft colors of the Wyoming and Colorado prairies--soft blues and purples of the mountains, the layers of the terrain, and the soft greens, tans, yellows that dominate, and the rich reds, rusts and orange that add the pop to the landscape. So often, we take these scenes for granted and fail to really see the beauty of these little vignettes.
