"Homestead Barn" 12 x 16 Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Artist Margretta Smylie Perry
"Homestead Barn"
12" x 16"
Original Pastel Painting
by Colorado Artist
Margretta Smylie Perry
SOLD
This old Colorado barn gives a real feel for the past. My family on both sides homesteaded in Colorado, and I think this must be what their barns probably looked like. We had a big barn like this when I was a child in Montana. I remember playing in the hayloft with my older sister when all of a sudden my little legs went right through. It was a good thing I had knobby knees--that's all that kept me from falling on through. My father was below us and was terrified! I still have small white scars on either sides of my knees to remind me how they "saved my bacon"! I love the look and variety of these old barns. Hopefully, folks will continue to take care of them and save them into the future.

Morning Glory Cafe hosts new exhibit by Colorado Pastel Artist, Margretta S. Perry
This fall, Morning Glory Cafe, in Lafayette, CO hosts a new exhibit of pastel paintings by Broomfield pastel artist, Margretta S. Perry. The following paintings are now on display. A variety of Perry's cards and prints are also available at the restaurant.
"Dawn on the Farm"
11" x 14"
$250.00
This farm is located at the outskirts of Louisville, CO. I wanted to create an atmosphere of dawn when everything comes to life on a farm!

"Homestead"
7" x 9"
$195.00
This farm is a compilation of several scenes, showing off the large Colorado skies and a scene similar to my grandfather's farm near Wellington, CO, now farmed by my cousin Wade. It is so comforting to know that farm families continue to work the land and it hasn't all been taken over by large corporations!

SOLD
"Ranch on Wood's Landing Road, Laramie, WY"
11" x 14"
$250.00
This scene is west of Laramie, WY off the Wood's Landing Road. Our family used to visit aunt, uncle, and cousins on a farm in that area which was always a special treat to us. I wasn't sure which farm had been theirs, but tried to capture a scene similar to my childhood memory.

"Winter Grazing"
6" x 8"
$125.00
This farm was glowing on the Colorado landscape on what is called "The Front Range" or the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains west of Denver. It was winter, but the cows were out grazing in a green meadow, an idyllic scene with the red barns in the background.

"Winter Farm"
9" x 12"
$210.00
SOLD
SOLD
This lovely painting is also a compilation of farms. The original scene was from a tulip farm in the Skagit Valley with the Cascade Mountains in the background. Using artistic license, I transformed it into a wintery scene that could be common to almost all of the western states. I love the fields of snow still showing the rows of planting--and of course, red barns...
Come and see the exhibit and enjoy the wonderful "farm-fresh fare" at the Morning Glory Farm Cafe. They have a terrific selection of gluten-free menu items--a favorite of our family! Jules also carries my cards and prints for sale at the restaurant. Bon appetit!!!

SOLD
I just painted this sweet little picture from a photo I took this summer of the beautiful sunrise from my doorstep. I got it framed yesterday and planned to put it in a local miniature art show coming up in our area. My neighbor saw it and bought it on the spot! I couldn't have found a better home for it! She recognized the view--from her window--so I know it will be appreciated.
