The contrasts of warm against cool and light against dark make this a visually stimulating painting.  This painting was done on watercolor paper with a coating of pastel ground.  The textures of the support made interesting patterns throughout.

This little painting is a rendition of the Sawhill Pond area outside of Boulder, CO looking out toward the Flatirons. I used Wallis sanded paper as the ground and a mix of soft pastels.
